Throughout history many observances have been associated with childbirth.  One of those observances that is both pleasant and useful is the emergence of a baby shower.

This is a party small or large, that is all about the mother to be preparing for the birth of a child.  Relatives and friends gather to shower her with gifts for the new little bundle of joy that  is soon to enter the world.  Friends and family help to ease the financial expense of equipping the family to receive this new blessing.

The baby also comes with much responsibility and many things are needed to ensure the health and well being of the new baby.  Some of the gifts friends will bring may include a baby thermometer, baby advice books, well constructed car seats or room monitors.  In other words things to help mom and dad keep their baby safe.

Other gifts will keep the new baby’s bottom comfortable.  Baby diapers are always a welcome gift.  With the new trendy baby showers ideas of today came the invention of the diaper cake.  These can be handmade,  I’ve done this myself.  If time is not available or you don’t feel creative you can purchase a diaper cake.    Items like lotions and salves can be attached to the cake again for the purpose of keeping baby comfortable.

There are just so many things to offer a new mom to be and her baby to come.  Cuddly soft stuffed animals, blankets that comfort at bed time, mobiles for baby to watch and rattles for baby to learn to grasp and listen to.  Babies grow and grow and they need lots of clothes.  Sleepers and all in one tee shirts and booties to keep little feet warm.  If mom is breastfeeding she may need a breast pump at times.

There are all kinds of bottles if she is not.  A diaper bag is a must have when traveling, even to the pediatrician or to visit grandmother.  A diaper bag will store the diapers, bottles, baby wipes, bibs, extra clothes and blankets: the list could go on and on.

Mom will find a baby carrier worn on her body will allow her to go shopping and have the use of both of her hands.  Babies need to bond with their new parents and this will allow baby to feel safe.  New dads will like having something like this too.  A family outing will be much easier when a family has something that can be worn.  Many of these carriers can be worn in the front or on your back.  You will still be able to wrap your arms around baby and drop kisses on his or her head.

The baby shower will make life easier for mom and dad.  It will also give friends and relatives a real sense of attachment to express their love, concern and happiness for a new family.
